Mahila Seva Samaja was established in 1913. It is a registered society incorporated in 1914 under The Mysore Societies Regulation No.III of 1904. The founder was Smt. Parvatiamma Chandrashekar Iyer. The founding members worked for the upliftment of destitute women. The school was started to give education to girls and women, which was noteworthy, as there were hardly any institutions providing education to women at that time.
The school is administered by a managing committee comprising of only women. Most of the members are old students of the school or they are retired members of the staff of the school. All the members work on an honoray basis, as service to the society and eduction of the children.
Mahila Seva Samaja which began in 1913 as an organization with noble intentions, supported by a spirit of sisterhood and women empowerment, has blossomed into an educational institution that inculcates a tradition of selfless service and imparts education which inspires practical action throughout life.
The school for many years has emphasized on making learning an enjoyable experience; be it music, art, creative expression, academics, sports or computers.
Mahila Seva Samaja, having a long standing in the field of Education, started another section with affiliation to the Central Board of Secondary Education in the year, 2006 for classes 1 - 10. The first batch of class X passed with one first class and the rest distinction in the year 2011. Presently, the board has granted affiliation to start the XI Standard from the year 2011 – 2012. The CBSE makes it mandatory for all schools under the board to have infrastructure as per their affiliation bye-laws. Hence, there is a need for more laboratories and classrooms to cater to the Senior Secondary Stage.
Mahila Seva Samaja has got the sanction of the BBMP for constructing the building as required by the CBSE. A building with ground plus three floors will come up next to the Annexe facing the Pampa Mahakavi Road.
The members of the Managing Council appeal to all the well wishers of the school, old students of the school, parents, philanthrophists, and other donors for their valuable contributions so as to enable us to complete this project which is estimated to be around 3 crores in time for the Centenary of Mahila Seva Samaja in 2013. Please help us to accomplish this project by contributing generously.
